The Unstoppable Woman

November 15, 2017

When I was a young girl, I dreamed of growing up to be just like the strong and beautiful 'Wonder Woman' that I had watched on TV. In fact my cousin had a Wonder Woman costume that we would love to dress up in and pretend to fight the bad guys (her 2 little brothers lol!)

As I grew older, got married and started a family, I found myself trying to be 'Wonder Woman' - being everything to everybody. Boy, she sure was a tough act to follow and not a realistic role to play in any stretch of the imagination. As you may have read from some of my earlier blog posts, trying to keep up to this standard left me to crash and burn.

Since then, I have decided that rather than trying to be the elusive Wonder Woman, I would instead learn what it meant to be an Unstoppable Woman.

Maybe you find yourself asking, "What does that even mean?", well read on... I would love to share with  you the valuable lessons that I have learned.

The definition of an 'Unstoppable' Woman - A woman who lets nothing

get between her and her dreams.

I  was honored when I was asked to speak at an event over this past weekend called "The Power of the Unstoppable Woman". My colleague Cathy Gregory and I gave a talk about what we felt made up the qualities of an Unstoppable Woman. We were so blessed to have shared the stage with the featured speaker, Dr. Rose Backman and learned for the first time about the "Backman Emotional Technique". I was AMAZED. If you are interested in learning about her emotional healing, you can go to her website here.

We began our talk discussing how it is important it is to create a strong foundation for your life and the significance of finding balance. This can be a huge challenge for many, as I am sure you can relate?

I spoke about why our stories matter. I explained how I used to hide in the shadows, not really living to my full potential, afraid of what people would think of me if they only knew my REAL story. Keeping this pain inside caused me to nearly burst and that is when I decided to take action. I now share my story of overcoming to empower others, that they are not alone, HOPE is alive and well! Owning our story allows us to stand in a place of power, no longer giving our power away and to step into our light. What happens next is truly remarkable ... it gives other women permission to step into their light as well. Our stories can be the catalyst to living the life we were meant to live.

Then I shared how Marci Stockton Wellness began ...

Like many of you, my life has had its share of ups and downs. It is a story of overcoming & stepping into the woman I was meant to be and sharing my light with all of you.

Here is a picture of me and my beautiful Mom at my little brothers wedding.

When I was just 14 years old, my Mom had a breakdown and walked out on our family leaving me and my 2 year old little brother behind.

As you can imagine, this was a devastating time, but a pivotal moment in my life.

Once I was able to let go of the anger, the hurt and the resentment, I was able to see this as an amazing gift - for it was this moment in time that helped shape me into the strong, determined woman that I am today, filled with so much love and compassion to help others.

My teen years were difficult and I made my share of bad choices but then I met the love of my life. My knight in shining armour, my husband Wes. We are high school sweethearts and have been happily married now for over 22 years, creating the most amazing family.

For years I stayed home with my children as I wanted to be the one to witness all of their firsts and be there to kiss every boo-boo.

Once we got the kids off to school, I began my career office administration. Although I enjoyed my work and did my job well, I just wasn't feeling full-filled. I felt like something was missing.

Deep down on the inside I knew that I was meant for more. I knew that I had special gifts and talents ... now to figure out what to do with them.

"It is never too late to be what you might have been." ~ George Elliot

I consider myself to be a life-long learner, with a stack of books a mile high, very much drawn to self-help, personal growth and development, as well as health and wellness.

Watching my Mother battle addiction, mental health and cancer over the years fueled my passion for better health for me and my family.

Also, one of my greatest strengths is being a good listener. I had spent years counseling friends and family members (For FREE), and even perfect strangers often felt compelled to share their deepest darkest secrets with me.

As I began to put the pieces of the puzzle together it made perfect sense for me to take my studies into the field of life coaching and health and wellness.

So here we are today. Nothing stopping me or getting in the way of achieving my dreams.

My practice focuses on empowering women (and Men) to let go of what is no longer serving them, giving them hope for a brighter future as we focus on learning how to love and honor ourselves for the beautiful beings that we are and create a life of love, freedom, joy and happiness.

Do you know what your unique gifts are? Take a minute or 2 to really think about it. Are you using them to the best of your ability?

Being an 'Unstoppable' Woman to me means being in optimal health in mind, body and spirit. We talked about how our company has allowed us to Prevail in all areas of our life.

I asked the questions:

Do you often feel fatigued? Have you ever tried to lose weight or start an exercise program only to fall off track a few months, a few weeks or even a few days after getting started?

We have found a solution that is simple and has helped us create fool-proof, healthy habits.

I told my story about of how I had gotten a little lost on my journey. I was to a point where I reached the heaviest weight that I had ever been. I had lost my MOJO and was hiding behind much bigger clothes than I had ever wanted to be wearing. I hadn't been sleeping well and I had almost completely forgotten about my self-care routine, taking care of everyone else's needs first. I was extremely fatigued and felt like a walking zombie most days.

Have you ever gotten a little lost?

My friend Cathy had tried to introduce me to this system that she had just started, but I wasn't interested. I wouldn't even try a sample. I knew what I had to do, after all, I had spent years researching all about good health. Not only that, over the years I had spent thousands and thousands of dollars on various pills, shakes & potions that made promises but just never seemed to work out.

I thought to myself... I am just going to eat a little better and make time to exercise, I don't need her stinkin' weight loss coffee!!

Well, about 6 months had passed and my dear friend had lost 30 pounds and she had the most glowing skin, eyes and hair, I had never seen her look so healthy in the 11 years that I had known her.

I had lost a whopping 5 pounds and although I wasn't feeling quite like a zombie anymore, I wanted more of what she was having!

I was finally ready to listen and my husband and I got started right away.

It didn't take long for us to get the kick start that we needed and the rest is history. I have lost almost 30 pounds, dropped 3 pant sizes and I am getting in the best shape of my life. My confidence has gone through the roof and my optimal health has me simply feeling 'Unstoppable'!

I shared that what I love most is how we can help others achieve greater health, time freedom and financial well-being while we all become the best version of ourselves in the process.

"What I know is, is that if you do work that you love, and the work fulfills you, the rest will come!"

~ Oprah Winfrey

The final lesson from our talk was this:

~Live like someone let the gate open

~Dream Big, Set Goals, Take Action

~Your story matters

~Be a product of the product

~Be persistent & consistent

~Trust the process

~Give it time

~Don't ever quit

Finally, let me introduce you to what Dr. Rose feels makes up an 'Unstoppable Woman':

~She speaks her truth

~She never dishonors or devalues what she knows to be real

~She never worries about what others think of her, because the only thing that matters is what she thinks of herself

~Don't fret about your past, as it only exists in your mind. We are all worthy and deserving of being healed

~Everything that we go through in life is a gift and the lessons keep coming until we take our last breath

~Welcome the lessons, teach others and be open to more love in your life

~Listen to your gut feelings, love, honor and value yourself

~Know that you are deserving and worthy of creating a wonderful life

~Have a voice and allow yourself to be heard. The world is waiting for you to share your talents

~Make a decision to find your happy place, heal yourself and to claim YOUR power as an 'Unstoppable' Woman!
